“an instrumental album of the most beautiful, minimalist, ambient rock music that resonates at a completely different frequency from all that has gone before.”

– The Line of Best Fit

Inventions is the new duo of Matthew Cooper (Eluvium) and Mark T. Smith (Explosions In The Sky). Their self-titled debut album has already garnered much praise, finding interested ears beyond simply fans of their primary groups.  It is becoming clear that Inventions is a provocative, enchanting group that is not to be overlooked as merely a side-project.

Across eight songs the duo explore the delicate and disturbing – and virtually everything in-between – with majestic abandon. It’s the kind of beauty and brilliance that only masters of their craft can accomplish when all egos and expectations are cast aside in pursuit of the splendour of sound.

“streamlined electronic uplift to force your emotions into an altered state of ecstatic euphoria”.

– Mojo

“Inventions is like blowing gently on a candle, tranquillity set into gentle throes of dance…”

– Rock-A-Rolla

“The record as a whole possesses uncommon beauty.”

– Pitchfork
